The Jamaican Rum Punch
Jamaica is exactly the kind of place we all think of when it comes to rum punch, and this beautiful Caribbean island has long since perfected their own take on the classic. Jamaicans love deep and fruity flavours, and this punch recipe certainly packs in plenty of those!
2.5 cups pineapple juice
2.5 cups of orange juice
1 cup white rum
0.5 cup dark rum
0.5 cup coconut rum
¼ cup fresh lime juice
3 tbsp grenadine syrup
1 orange, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
1 lime, sliced
Take out your best punch bowl, and pour in each of the liquid ingredients in turn. Finish by floating the fruit slices in the punch, and chuck in some ice if it’s a particularly hot day. Delicious!
The Pineapple Ginger Dream Punch
Ginger beer - the spicy Jamaican kind - is the perfect ingredient for a rum punch that really delivers a bang when it comes to flavour. Refreshing, packed with mouthwatering components, and pretty close to a tried-and-tested classic from Kingstown, this punch is sure to get people dancing!
⅔ cup pineapple and coconut juice
¼ cup gold rum
3 tbsp lime juice
⅓ Jamaican-style ginger ale
Pineapple wedges to serve
Lime wedges to serve
Add the pineapple and coconut juice to a pitcher, followed by the lime juice and rum. Fill two glasses with ice cubes, then split the rum between them. Top up with sparkling ginger beer to give it a fiery kick. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass, and enjoy!
The Boston Punch
This is a slightly fancier rum punch, that pays homage to the history of rum production found in the city of Boston. For this punch, you need to first prep a simple homemade lemonade (which is always going to be a thousand miles better than the shop-bought stuff!), and it should be served with cracked ice in a pint glass. Classy!
2 oz Jamaican rum
Half a strawberry
Grated nutmeg
1 orange slice
Homemade Lemonade (see recipe below)
To make the Lemonade
Peel of 6 lemons
6 oz lemon juice
24 oz water
¾ cup demerara sugar
Muddle together the lemon peels and the sugar, then leave to stand for any hour to let the oils express themselves and provide a real hit of citrus flavour. Once the time has passed, add the remaining ingredients, and stir to dissolve the sugar. Leave in the fridge to chill.
To make the punch
Fill a shaker with cracked ice. Add the rum, followed by the lemonade. Shake, then pour (unstrained) into a pint glass. Add some freshly grated nutmeg, half a strawberry, and an orange slice garnish.
The Bajan Negroni
Love negronis? Love punch? Then you’re going to absolutely adore this Caribbean twist on the Italian classic cocktail. Those spicy-sweet flavours and hit of rum come together beautifully on the palate, and when served in a beautiful Brumate stemless glass or tumbler, you can be sure you’ve got a truly refreshing and stylish drink on your hands! This is a sophisticated take that combines the best of both worlds, and it’s one of the best rum punch recipes you’ll see all year. You can thank us later!
15 oz Campari
10 oz your choice of rum
30 whole cloves
2.5 oz honey
10 lemons
Squeeze out your ten lemons, then combine the juices with the 30 cloves in a plastic container, and stick it in your freezer. While that’s freezing to a slushy consistency, combine all of the other ingredients in a punch bowl, then remove the lemon ice slush from the freezer, and mix into the bowl. Heaven!
